One offbeat vacation idea we’ve seen come up recently is taking the family to one of the many festivals taking place in Seattle this fall. In particular, if you and your family enjoy kicking back and sampling new beers and other refreshments, you won’t want to miss Fremont Oktoberfest.
Fremont Oktoberfest takes place on September 20-22, 2019 and features fun for adults and children. The Street Scramble is an urban exploration event. The whole family can compete to race around Fremont in teams of 2 to 5. Teams hurry to find specially-marked spots on a map; finding them earns your team points. There’s also an hour-long beer and yoga event session Sunday morning. And, if you’re local or traveling with your pets, there’s even a dog show (Dogtoberfest) taking place later that day.
The beer festival itself isn’t open to anyone under the age of 21 so you’ll need to have some other kid-friendly activities planned. If one parent plans on attending Fremont Oktoberfest one day, the other parent can go the following day. You can easily sample some of the best beers in the area while your spouse takes the kids to one of the many museums or shopping centers in Seattle.
Places to Stay That Accommodate the Whole Family
Part of the fun of looking for hotels near Bellevue, WA is to compare amenities. Doing so allows you to get the most bang for your buck. The Hyatt Regency Bellevue, just across Lake Washington, to the east of Seattle, is one of the most popular options you’ll find because of how accommodating it is for families of all sizes. It enjoys a central location, making it convenient to go to and from the hotel; if you need to take a short break to recharge your batteries, you can go back to the Hyatt to watch some TV, take a nap or swim.
The Silver Cloud Inn is a low-key hotel in downtown Bellevue. It’s just blocks away from Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square Shopping Centers, putting you in the heart of the action. Complimentary breakfast, internet, and a fitness center round out its amenities.
Kid-Friendly Attractions You Don’t Want to Miss Out On
To say that there are many things to do in Downtown Seattle is an understatement. In fact, you’d need to plan multiple trips to the city to be able to experience everything of interest to you and your family.
Some of the more notable kid-friendly attractions in the area include visiting the Space Needle, riding on the Washington State Ferries, visiting the Museum of Flight, and spending the day at the Woodland Park Zoo.
Places to Eat That Satisfy the Pickiest Palate
There are tons of family-pleasing food options in Seattle. A few good choices include Italian Family Pizza, Serious Pie, Hanok, and JuneBaby.
If your children are adventurous eaters, they’ll love the wide range of ethnic cuisines to choose from. You can take a trip around the world by visiting different locations throughout Downtown Seattle. Best of all, you don’t need a passport to visit these globally-inspired restaurants!
Attend Many Festivals This Fall in Seattle
Fremont Oktoberfest may be the first of many fall festivals you and your family attend in Seattle this year. Once you plan out one trip and find a neighborhood you like, you’ll have a much easier time planning your next trip to the Emerald City. You’ll have a good idea of what neighboring attractions, businesses, and restaurants are in the area, too. It’s nice to have places you want to try and ones you already know are sure things.
