6 Best Towns for Shopping on Long Island

Long Island, New York, is an amazing destination, with so much to do during your visit. There are fantastic ocean views and beautiful places to stay and dine in the area. What you might not know is that there is top-notch shopping as well! Whatever your fancy, it can be found in these six towns along the coast.

Patchogue

A great location if you’re looking for independent shops, Patchogue is home to a plethora of small, individually owned boutiques with many varying styles. From historical sites and antique shopping to high-end boutiques, there is a bit of everything to see while you’re staying here. If you’re here for the quirky retro vibe of this small Long Island town, make sure that you visit the Paper Doll Curiosity Shoppe. This funky gift shop has great gifts as well as fun vintage and retro items to go along with its crazy decor.

Great Neck

For a unique shopping experience, head to Great Neck. This shopping mecca boasts more than 260 retail stores! With bakeries, retail shops, and even galleries for the artistically inclined, in the Great Neck Plaza, you are sure to find everything you didn’t know you needed. If you find yourself with a few hours to spare, head to the Muse Paintbar for a sip, and leave with an art piece that you paint yourself!

East Hampton

No list of shopping cities in Long Island would be complete without mentioning the Hamptons, and for good reason. South Hampton plays host to some of the best shopping in the area. With a Tiffany & Co., Gucci store, and many more of the luxury brands, It’s easy to see why this makes our best-shopping list. Window shopping is all you can afford? Grab a coffee and a local pastry and recreate the iconic “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” scene.

Northport

Lined with adorable ice cream shops, quirky vintage and antique shops, and upscale boutiques, Northport’s Main Street is a veritable smorgasbord of shops and dining. Walk along until you hit the waterfront and end your shopping day with an amazing view.

Riverhead

Home to the Tanger Outlets, Riverhead makes our list because it not only has great areas for kids, like a splash park and aquarium but houses a huge outdoor shopping area and outlets. There’s something for everyone in this little town.

Greenport

Voted one of the 50 best yachting destinations of North America, as well as one of the top 10 wine destinations, Historic Greenport Village also boasts bustling shopping locations. Whatever your mood, you can find it in Greenport. Hit The Weathered Barn for some amazing home items handmade out of reclaimed materials, and meet the artists while you’re there!

It should not be surprising that with its miles of beaches and waterfront dining and living that there is also amazing shopping to be found up and down Long Islands’ towns. From vintage and curio shops to high-end luxury shopping, Long Island has shops for every personality.
