Barcelona in December

Usually folks seem to think of tropical destinations for a winter vacation, but a different idea popped into our heads the other day, why not visit Barcelona in December?

We started looking into it and while it is not as warm as those beach getaway islands in the tropics, it is most certainly very comfortable temperature wise, and way, way cooler than the sometimes brutal summer temps in Spain. Plus, it does not rain very much. Sounds just about perfect to us.

We also realized that even though we love the beach, there is only so much sun worshiping that we can do, and there is a whole lot more to see and do in Barcelona. So, as always, the first thing we had to investigate was finding the best place to stay for our adventure.

Lucky for us we found a great option when we decided to look into a Stay at ILUNION Hotels, accessible and Pet Friendly because they seem to cover everything we look for in a hotel. Even better, everyone can enjoy their comfort and service because accessible rooms for people with reduced mobility are available and service animals, along with all of your family fur babies, are always welcome.

There are five ILUNION Hotels to choose from in Barcelona so no matter which part of the city you are interested in, your home away from home will be right nearby.

Is Sagrada Família at the top of your list? We certainly think that’s a good idea since we have often called this masterpiece designed by Antoni Gaudí’ the most amazing structure that we have ever seen. Well the ILUNION Auditori and the ILUNION Bel Art are both just a few blocks away.

Want to spend some peaceful quiet time in Parc de la Ciutadella and visit with the animals in the
Barcelona Zoo, or get acquainted with the art at the Picasso and Banksy Museums, or maybe walk through the Arc de Triomph? Luckily the ILUNION Almirante is right in the middle of all of that and also an easy walk to the fantastic La Rambla.

This nearly one mile long pedestrian boulevard is not to be missed with its quirky street performers and collection of some of Antoni Gaudí’s most fascinating buildings. This is also a great place to find some of Barcelona’s best tapas.

Perhapa attending to some business is on the agenda, then ILUNION Les Corts Spa would be the best choice. There’s no better way to wind down from a stressful meeting than to relax with a soothing massage or beauty treatment.

And last, but certainly not least, is the ILUNION Barcelona. We are very intrigued by this location because it is in an area of town that we have not explored before, known as the Sant Martí District. La Rambla de Poblenou runs right through the heart of this neighborhood and is a wonderful way to get a real feel for authentic local life in the city. The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for strolling the avenue, eating at any of the many restaurants, or just taking it all in.

So with all of these great options, how could we not be thinking that a winter beach break might just have to wait until later?

Barcelona in December just sounds too good to pass up.
