An Eerie Day in Halifax

Join us on an eerie, foggy day as we experience the seafaring ways of the Canadian Maritime Provinces in their biggest city, Halifax.

Take a stroll with us as we pay our respects in the cemetery of the unknown victims of the Titanic disaster and though the amazing Victorian Public Gardens.

See the boardwalk with its weird and wonderful art installations, view the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic with its Titanic and Halifax Explosion exhibits, and Pier 21 – Canada’s Ellis Island. Get a sample of the Canadian street foods poutine and donair. And watch ghost ships in the mist… CONTINUE READING >>

T-Rex and the City

How I shared my first inappropriate adult-to-adult laugh with my daughter. Not exactly a Hallmark moment – but I’ll take it.

There’s passion on Manhattan. I felt it as soon as I arrived on the island. For me, a major part of this enthusiasm radiates from my fast-walking, subway-chasing, black-wearing, taxi-flagging urbanite daughters, The Piglet and Decibel.

The New York I know is viewed through their eyes and it is a very youthful place. I have to say I’m a bit flattered that my girls felt they could drag this old T-Rex around everywhere they went. But, apparently, this dinosaur… CONTINUE READING >>

Ever Wonder What’s at Woodstock Now?

Woodstock. The name instantly brings to mind a whole era to any of us who were old enough to listen to music when the concert happened. I didn’t go to Woodstock, I saw the movie — at a drive-in, no less – with my brother pretending to be my uncle guardian because it was rated R for showing muddy hippy-chick breasts… oh, and maybe that part where Country Joe led the crowd in a chant.

I may have been too young to get into an R movie forty years ago but I was old enough to know something big…  CONTINUE READING >>
