  1. Your pictures are beautiful and really capture the beauty of the train ride to Machu Picchu. I always tell people that the train ride was like being in a National Geographic documentary. I loved Peru and would go back in a heartbeat. Handsdown my favorite country in Latin America.

  2. This post really brings back memories of my trip to Machu Picchu. I agree — kudos for the great photo of the woman with the bag. The train ride to the Sacred Valley was great, but my biggest memory is the trip back: we sat on the track for two hours while men worked to clear a ton of rock off the track after one of the area’s frequent landslides.

  3. I love, love, loved taking the train to Aquas Calientes and the whole Macchu Pichu experience. BTW – That photo of the woman carrying the bag is stunning!

  4. I was on this train last May. Very nice. Oddly, what I most clearly remember are the fresh cut flowers in the men’s room at the station in Ollantaytambo. 🙂

  5. That looks like a way nicer train than the one I took to Machu Picchu about 15 years ago. I remember there being goats and chickens on board!! And it was so crowded everyone was totally squished in the standing room. It was the train for locals, not the tourist train.
