Ellis, the Cafe Guy, Shows Us Around the Cafe Car on the California Zephyr

Ellis, “The Cafe Guy,” Amtrak’s coolest employee, shows us around his domain. The Zephyr, like all of Amtrak’s long haul runs, has both a dining car for complete sit down meals and a cafe / lounge / dome car for quick snacks. 1. I just love your videos. I want so bad to take a week and see what I can see on Amtrak. You guys make me miss my ex wife as we traveled everywhere but never took the train. I do wish the had some sort of smoking car as I love to smoke even though it is not good for you. Well, thank you for your web page and your videos! Maybe I can catch an Amtrak from Houston sometime.

  2. This story brought me back a couple of years. I was turning 70 and had lost my job and the mortgage on my condo was way too high for me to handle on social security. I sold, gave away, donated almost everything I owned. I bought a ticket on Amtrak from Milwaukee to Portland. Drove south and spent time in Bend, OR. When I left I continued on to Whitefish, MT where I fell in love with the town and the people. I stayed there for awhile on continued on home. Two months later I Amtraked again on a round-trip to LA. It’s been a couple of years but I’m hoping I can do these trips again. I am totally enamoured with Glacier Park and would love to get back there while I’m still able. Thanks
